The Elliot Brown Grover reports and patent contain Grover and C. J. Hall's 1928 thesis, "Construction and Improvement of Thickness Gauge for Textiles"; Malcolm E. Campbell's 1933 report for the United States Department of Agriculture, "Spinning Tests of Selected Bales of Sea Island, American-Egyptian, and Egyptian-Sakellaridis Cotton: A Preliminary Report"; and Grover's 1943 patent for an apparatus to test the density of thread packages.

Massachusetts native Elliot Brown Grover (1906-1997) joined the North Carolina State College (later North Carolina State University) faculty in 1944 as the head of the Yarn Manufacturing Department in the School of Textiles.
